Will a guy complimentif he likes u?

Ok so I'm 13 And the guy today in poetry class said in front of the whole class tht my poem sld b in a book. I started turning red and he jst smiled at me. I see him look over at me in class alot. I'm not sure if it cld mean he likes me or jst friends. We never tlk so idk but that's how some of my old bfs were HELP!!
